The halls are decked, spiced cider is warming, the traditional cookies are baked and musicians are tuning up for the Silver City Museum’s 30th Annual Victorian Christmas Open House on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Presented in the sharing spirit of early community celebrations, the event is set in the museum’s historic H. B. Ailman House at 312 West Broadway. Generous sponsorship by First American Bank allows the museum to offer this celebration for free to the community!

Entertainment in the holiday spirit will be presented throughout the Victorian Christmas Evening. This year’s musical line-up will be starting at 5:30 pm with the Gila Highlanders, followed by the Chamber Singers at 6:00 pm, Jericho at 6:30 pm, with Gleemaiden at 7:00 pm, and ending with the Concert Band of the Southwest at 7:30 pm.

The Museum Store is stocked with gifts for shoppers of all ages. Father Christmas will be on hand, greeting the children and handing out presents. Many participants will be dressed in period costume, giving the evening that special feeling of a bygone era.

Bring the children to make holiday crafts throughout the evening. Craft activities will include a handmade Christmas card and an ornament that can include a child’s picture.

The museum’s various exhibits will be on display for you to enjoy. Come celebrate this holiday season with your community museum!

The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching and interpreting the region’s unique history.
