Harleys, Me and Bobbie McGee, more rain and lots to eat.
Greetings and a happy Labor Day weekend!
I hope it did not rain as much in the rest of the state as it did in Silver City last night; we have so many events and things going on. The energy is high as the town is filled with people and activities. “Me and Bobbie McGee” drifts across the way from The Chicano Car and Music Festival at Gough Park as one of the bands fills the air with classic rock. Children’s laughter rings in the background as Harley’s roar down the street in seeming procession. Visitors are also enjoying strolls and good eats as A Taste of Downtown is underway. Plenty of folks are in town for the Gem and Mineral Show as well.
I watch the clouds moving across the sky and once more hope that it does not rain. Spoken too late, I hear the drops coming and no doubt people all around town are scurrying for cover. Perhaps it will pass quickly and the events can continue as planned into the night. In the meantime, I better go grab my own outdoor things so I have a dry place to sit when it passes. That is the nature of the New Mexico monsoons.
Wishing you a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend from the Land of Enchantment.
